Intercollegiate Athletics

Stevenson University is a member of the NCAA Division III and offers a wide variety of sports for both men and women.

Known as the "Mustangs," the University fields the following teams for men and women: basketball, soccer, cross-country, lacrosse, golf, cheerleading, volleyball, and tennis; for men only, baseball and football; and for women only, dance, field hockey, and softball. Most of the University's sports compete in the Capital Athletic Conference (CAC). Formed in 1989, the CAC is a nine-member coalition of four-year, co-educational institutions. All the institutions are located in close geographic proximity and have similar educational and athletic philosophies. Current members of the CAC include Frostburg University, Hood College, University of Mary Washington, Marymount University, Salisbury University, St. Mary's College of Maryland, Wesley College, and York College of Pennsylvania. The men's volleyball team competes in the North East Collegiate Volleyball Association, while Stevenson's women's golf team, dance squad, and cheerleading team compete as independents. The University plans to start a track and field team to compete in the CAC effective for the spring 2011 season.

Stevenson University also sponsors junior varsity games for our largest team squads. Future club sports are also on the horizon. Club sports are teams that are fielded by Stevenson University enrolled students and will compete against other local college club teams.

All student athletes are encouraged to try-out for the varsity athletic teams and also to be multi-sport athletes. A mid-summer call for tryouts will be advertised on <> with instructions on how to comply with both NCAA Compliance and the Athletic Training Guidelines. Students are eligible to earn one physical education credit by participating on a team or serving as a manager of a team.
