Stevenson University has no formal program for students with disabilities. However, the University, as required by the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) and section 504 of the Rehabilitation in Education Act of 1973, attempts to provide reasonable classroom accommodations for students with disabilities. The Office of Academic Support Services is the designated office that obtains and files disability-related documents, certifies eligibility for services, determines reasonable accommodations and develops plans for the provision of such accommodations. The documentation must include medical or psychological information from a certified professional. Complete guidelines for the type of documentation required are available upon request. The aforementioned guidelines are provided so that we can respond appropriately to the individual needs of the student. The Office of Academic Support Services reserves the right to determine eligibility for services based on the quality of the submitted documentation. All documentation is confidential. Documentation for disabilities must be submitted by the end of the first week of each semester.
No testing for the purpose of identifying or verifying disabilities is conducted by the University. Requests for services must be made each semester the student is enrolled even if the student received accommodations the previous semester.
