Veterans' Benefits

Stevenson University is approved by the Maryland Higher Education Commission for the training of veterans under the Veterans Readjustment Benefits Act of 1966, Public Law 89-358.

A veteran desiring to determine eligibility under any of the VA chapters may obtain information and an application at <>. After the veteran has received the notice of eligibility, the student should contact the certifying official in the Registrar's Office to request certification of enrollment. The veteran will meet with a certifying official to review all paperwork and complete the necessary forms. Each semester, veterans should complete the Declaration of Intent. This form is available in the Registrar's Office and at the Registrar's Office website. Completion of the form signals the student's intent to receive veterans' benefits for the upcoming semester.

All allowance checks are sent directly to the veteran by the VA except for those in Chapter 33. Any inquiries regarding these checks should be made directly to the VA. The veteran should be prepared to pay his or her own tuition and fees at the beginning of each semester since the checks do not arrive until approximately eight weeks after the VA process is completed.
