Library services at Stevenson University are available at both campus locations The Greenspring Library houses the larger collection of traditional books and media. The Brown School of Business and Leadership library at Owings Mills features materials primarily in the areas of paralegal studies, business, forensic studies, information technology, and related disciplines. Both locations feature browsing collections with entertainment reading. In January 2012, a new OneSearch service was acquired to allow students to find books, articles and more with a single tool located on the main Library webpage.
Since 2005, the Stevenson University Library has been a member of the Maryland Interlibrary Consortium (MIC), with five area colleges providing access to shared collections of over a million volumes. Students can request materials through the SHAred Resources Catalog (SHARC) from local academic libraries for delivery to the Greenspring and Owings Mills campuses within 24-48 hours of request. Details are on the library website. More than 60 databases featuring electronic journals, magazines, and newspapers are accessible via the library website. A few of the databases to which the Stevenson University Library subscribes include Lexis-Nexis Academic, Business Source Premiere, The Baltimore Sun, and Science Direct. Approximately 28,000 full text magazines, journals, and newspapers are also available, and over 70,000 ebooks form a significant academic resource for students and faculty. Most of these electronic resources are searchable from home or office.
Knowledgeable and approachable library staff members stand ready to aid Stevenson University students to identify and locate academic resources appropriate for their assignments. Reference and research help are available in person, by phone, and electronically via text, chat and email. The AskUsNow virtual reference service provides live chat access to a librarian 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Students have a choice of study environments at both library locations where there are wireless network access, individual study carrels, listening/viewing rooms for media, group study areas, computer lab/library instruction classrooms, and quiet study areas. The Brown School of Business and Leadership Library features extended late hours during the regular semester. There are 56 public computers at the Greenspring Library and 32 at the Brown School of Business and Leadership Library which also includes 10 iMacs. Students can print in color or black and white using multiple printers at each library location .
During the regular semester, the Greenspring campus library is open Monday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.; Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.; and Saturday, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The Brown School of Business and Leadership Library is open at noon on Sunday, remaining open continuously until 8:00 p.m. on the following Friday, and on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Visit the Stevenson University Library website for the latest information regarding library hours and services.
