MATH 312 Mathematical Statistics I 3 credits, Fall Introduces the foundations of statistical theory. This first course in a two-course sequence focuses on the theory and applications of probability and its fundamental role in statistical inference. Topics covered include probability axioms and rules, counting techniques, discrete and continuous univariate and multivariate probability distributions, mathematical expectation, variance, and covariance.
