PHIL 420 Philosophy of Education
3 credits, Fall or Spring
Analyzes the philosophic dimensions of the teaching and learning process, with attention to the role of philosophers in classic and contemporary education. The course covers arguments on pedagogic theory from Plato to Dewey, with a focus on the professional relation of teacher and student and the purpose of education in society. The course is restricted to education majors.
Prerequisite(s): ENG 152 or equivalent, fourth-year status, or permission of the instructor
